When booking your first appointment you will be asked some basic questions about your dog’s health. This information is essential to allow us to meet his/her needs.
To ensure safety, owners are asked to inform us of any aggressive tendencies their dog may have to ensure that a risk assessment can be carried out, and appropriate safety measures are in place. Doreen will, where possible try to work positively with nervous dogs to help them relax.
Please remember to update us on any changes to your dogs’ health which may have occurred between appointments.
We need to know if your dog has a history of heart or respiratory problems, epilepsy, allergies, skin conditions, or is taking regular medication.
Please do NOT to bring dogs for grooming who are exhibiting signs of ill health such as vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, high temperature etc.
We will need current contact details for you and your vet. In the event of your dog becoming unwell during an appointment you will be informed, and if the situation is non-urgent it would be possible for you to take the dog to the surgery yourself, or for us to meet you at the surgery with the dog. In an emergency we reserve the right to take the dog direct to your own surgery, or our own veterinary surgery whichever is nearer and to inform you as soon as possible. Please inform us of any changes to contact details.
Happy Hound Grooming cannot be held liable for pre-existing health conditions in your dog including those which may not have been identified due to heavy matting of the coat. We would however update your dog’s individual history card with relevant details and inform you, to enable you to get appropriate professional attention for the dog.
Skin irritation can be caused by any close clipping required to remove very heavy matting. Often however, this is preferable to prolonged periods of detangling which can cause pain and stress to the dog, and who may in the future become distressed by attempts at grooming.
In general dogs relax better for grooming if the owners are not present, but Happy Hound Grooming invites prospective customers to view our facilities to reassure themselves as to the quality of the service/facilities on offer. Please ring for an appointment.
Please note: Missed appointments, and cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment time will be charged at 50% of the grooming fee.
